Lottery Singapore – The Official Lottery of Singapore

Lottery Singapore

Lottery Singapore is the official lottery of Singapore. It is run by Singapore Pools, the only legal lottery operator in the country. It has three main lottery games: Toto, 4D and Singapore Sweep.

Toto is a lottery that was launched in 1968 by Singapore Pools and has become very popular over the years. It can be played online or at participating outlets across the country. It has a jackpot prize of $2 million, and can be won by matching six numbers and an additional number.

A new study shows that winning lottery prizes improve well-being. In Singapore, a S$10,000 increase in unearned income improved household members’ self-reported overall health.

The results of the study were published in a journal called Social Science and Medicine, where researchers reviewed data on the amount of money people spent on lottery tickets and their self-reported health. It found that a significant amount of the difference between lottery-winners and non-winners in these variables could be explained by spending on lottery tickets.

In the previous financial year, SGD9.2 billion was wagered on lotteries and sports bets, an amount that was 40 per cent higher than the $6.6 billion spent in the preceding year. It is the largest amount the Tote Board has reported in the past decade.

With COVID-19 restrictions easing in 2020, gambling has resumed in Singapore, and punters are back on the scene in record amounts. Combined wagering on 4D, Toto and Singapore Sweep surged in the last financial year to SGD9.2 billion, up from $8.6 billion in the previous year. Entry collections also increased to SGD125 million in the last year, up 10 percent from the $114 million collected in 2018.
